Monday Morning Blues is the story of Val and Jeff, who face one of marriage's toughest challenges, infidelity. Caught up in the routine of working and raising a family, they, like many couples, lose sight of each other and become victims of the temptation and advice of others. This is a realistic romance, closer to home than many of us are willing to admit. There are no thugs, no drugs, no guns, and no murders, just a really good story about two people who really love each other. Add to the mix a pair of above-average children, a crazy friend and an outrageous Bible-toting in-law, and you will find yourself rooting for the sanctity of the home front. This is a book that true romantics can fall in love with, and be inspired by to renew their own relationships. Guided by days-of-the-week chapter headings, and the assumption that bad things happen on Mondays, Monday Morning Blues will convince you to take a second look at how your week is going. Have a great Monday (Morning Blues, that is)!

Omg I wish I could unread this. What a bunch of crap, using bulls*** bible quotes to smooth the way for that cheating loser. Ugh, hate when people misuse scriptures like that. Jeff never redeemed himself in my opinion. He got to have his little fun, tear his family apart, hurt his kids and wife and still come back to them with little to no effort in his part. Valerie was a spineless woman with low self-esteem, because only someone like that would take that loser back. Also the book makes no sense. Their marriage was in a bad place. He cheated and left his family because he wasn't happy (selfish bastard) and couldn't live the way they were. She wasn't happy either. But what caused their unhappiness wasn't even resolved to my liking. Why did he even want to get back? To me it felt more about his guilt over the troubles he caused his son/children than his regret and love for Valerie. Oh and the worst in all this bull, after he cheats and leaves them, he gets all mad at his wife for being short with him and tells her to stop being snippy - eff him. I'm so mad over this stupid book, and the author for using religion and children to pave Jeff's path.

Ernestine Rose has reached into the hearts and minds of many families that have endured one crisis or another. Her intense novel MONDAY MORNING BLUES is loaded with wonderful lessons in love, loyalty and family.

Ms. Rose has created characters that are well rounded and so believable! The dialogue added a dimension that brought each conversation to life. I could see each scene as it unfolded, in vivid color in my mind. The pace was steady, climbing in intensity at the right times.

Ms. Rose has spun a tale that will touch on many emotions and even bring readers to tears at times. I thoroughly enjoyed MONDAY MORNING BLUES by Ernestine Rose! You will too!

Wonderful work!

Review by B. BERRY
Val believes she has a loving and wholesome marriage of twenty years. Then her husband, Jeff declares he does not feel fulfilled, wants to move out "for a while", and then admits to an affair. Val, Jesse, and the two kids go through turbulent times as they try to understand and accept what has happened. There is a threat to Jeff's job, the other woman proves to b trouble when Jeff ends the affair, and the marriage strives to rebuild.
An interesting plot that rings true too often in American families today. There are several areas that need editing.
Monday Morning Blues is an odd creation if there ever were one. It does what Hollywood doesn't Takes an extra-marital affair away from the champagne colored floor lights of the hotel bedrooms and into the minds of ordinary people. Ernestine Rose wastes not a single paragraph playing with unnecessary narration. From the first page the affair has already taken place, so her novel focuses not so much on WHAT happened but WHY these things happen and their inevitable aftermath. In doing so, Rose takes the judgmental finger away from the self-righteous middle-aged urbanites and points it back at them to show everyone just how easily it could happen to you.
MMB has all the components of a love story but to call it a just romance novel would do it a disservice. In an age where Scandal and other side-piece fantasies rule the television screen, MMB is a lavishly narrated, plot twisting, defense of marriage. It's tightly written with a plot that tumbles forward at just the right pace. If its characters ever seem unoriginal it's only because they're just so damn relatable. I swear I've met these exact same people a hundred times in my own life.
I've read quite a few romance novels in my life and they boil down to two types The kind that makes you want to go out and find sex and the kind that makes you wanna go out and find love. Morning Morning Blues is both. Do buy. Do support.

Spoilers Ahead *** As I read this book, I just kept rolling my eyes. Jeff made me ill. He put his wants and needs before his wife and kids. His wife Valerie, has devoted her life to being a good mother and wife. With her job and all her household chores, she doesn't feed Jeff's over-sized ego enough to keep him happy. She also had put on a few pounds much to Jeff's dismay. So, Jeff has an affair with Brenda from work because she makes him feel wanted and she has "a 22 inch waist". He is also excited at the idea of being with someone new. In fact, he likes having sex with Brenda so much that he walks out on his family for her. Of course, being the dog he is, he let's his wife think that he isn't happy and this he is interested in someone but he isn't having sex with her even though he had been for a month already. His kids are devastated. Sure he knows his kids are hurt, but he is sure they will get over it. For Jeff, getting laid takes precedent over being a good parent and husband. After their son is hurt, Jeff starts to rethink his priorities. He sees that he wont have a lot of time for Brenda if he has to take care of Jamal. So, he decides to end things with Brenda and try to get back in Val's bed. Which doesn't take a much effort. Val has low self esteem and zero backbone. However, his mistress does. She doesn't like how he played her for a fool. After all, he did promise to leave his family for her and then he walked away. She takes on a stalker approach and even tries to get him fired from his job, but he manages to foil her plan. The sad thing is, if his kid had never been hurt, he would have stayed with his mistress Brenda. He even admitted leaving them for her. He didn't even use protection with her the first time. Lets you know what a cad this jerk is. He went back out of guilt for what happened to his son, not because he truly loves his wife. If he had . he would never have had unprotected sex with her. And his wife is blind as a bat because she doesn't see it. Its written in black and white. I hated everything about Jeff. He was a lying, cheating piece of crap.
To make this book even worse for me, The author also plays the christian card here. I wasn't having that. I love a good christian book, but this really wasn't one. It was used as a way to have Jeff come back home to his family without any repercussions for his infidelity. It should have been used to show Val her self worth, what a real man is like, and given her strength to move on.
